India Valle
Illustrator
India Valle is an illustrator based out of Richmond, Va. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a BFA in Communication Arts in 2018, and has a passion for fiction stories, character design, and children’s illustration. In addition to being a freelance illustrator, India also works in early childhood education, and loves when her work with children and her art can inform one another. She takes inclusiveness and creating positive imagery for underrepresented groups very seriously, and wants to continually explore how illustration can be a powerful tool to help young people of any background understand the complex experiences and emotions they have growing up. India Valle illustrated:
by Jock, Jailah, Victoria, and Jesse of Reach Incorporated
Georgia is having a hard time. A really hard time. Her best friend, Sienna, has passed away. She’s shutting down in school, ignoring texts from her friends, and won’t even eat her Chicken Alfredo (her favorite!) for dinner. Her mother knows she’s hurting and takes her to an overnight at the zoo to cheer her up. That night, the zoo animals visit her in a dream and talk to her about their experience with loss. Can these thoughtful animals help Georgia open up about her grief and start to find a path forward?
