We’ve been busy here at Shout Mouse this autumn. Here’s a run-down of some highlights:

We’re thrilled to announce that thanks to a generous grant from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, we will be able expand and innovate the Ballou Story Project this year through a cool new partnership with Young Playwrights' Theater. We’re taking these stories to the stage! Stay tuned for updates about the performance this spring.

In other BSP news, Shout Mouse authors and Ballou High School seniors Litzi and Darne’sha travelled to Denison University in Granville, Ohio to speak about their books with Reach Incorporated and the Ballou Story Project. Read more about their adventure here.

Earlier this month, thanks to a generous Shout Mouse supporter, we were able to send a set of Reach children’s books to Fuller Cut Barbershop in Ypsilanti, Michigan, where barber Ryan Griffin offers discounts to kids who read aloud while they get a trim.

When the books arrived, Griffin called the Shout Mouse office to offer his enthusiasm and gratitude. "Khalil's Swagtown Adventure? The Hoodie Hero? I guarantee you, these will be the books our kids will pick up. Because they relate. Because these books look like they're for them.”

Read more about Griffin and Fuller Cut here.

Speaking of Reach books! We are less than three weeks away from the Nov. 17 book launch. We can’t wait for authors to see their books for the first time, and we’re grateful to all who have worked so hard on making these books beautiful!

Finally, mark your calendars for our annual #Booksgiving event, Nov. 27-29, just in time for holiday gift giving. Be on the lookout for updates and discounts on all your favorite mission-driven books for kids and teens!
